Where Portuguese-language phone answering helps
When a Portuguese-speaking caller is answered in Portuguese, booking, asking a question or reporting a problem is quicker and clearer for everyone.

English schools and education providers
Answer enquiries from Portuguese-speaking students and their families about courses, start dates, enrolment steps and campus details, at any hour. The receptionist books a call with your admissions team and sends them a summary in English.

Beauty and hair salons
Clients can book, move or cancel an appointment in Portuguese, and ask about services and opening hours. Every booking is passed to your team with the client's name and number.

Trades and cleaning services
Take job and quote requests while your team is on site: address, the work needed and a good time to visit. Your office gets every job in English.

Property management
Tenants can report a repair, ask about rent or book a viewing in Portuguese. The receptionist records the details and passes urgent maintenance to your property manager.

Accountants and professional services
Book appointments, answer questions about opening hours and documents to bring, and take messages in Portuguese. Anything that needs advice goes to your qualified staff.
How we set up your Portuguese AI receptionist
Three steps. We do the heavy lifting.
Tell us about your callers
Which languages they speak, what they call about, and what a good call ends with: a booking, a message or a transfer.
We build and test it in Portuguese
Your greeting, hours, services and booking rules in English and Portuguese, tested on calls with your own names and places.
Go live on your number
Forward your existing number. Every call comes with a transcript and summary, and we keep improving it.
What makes Portuguese-language calls different?
Speaking Portuguese well on the phone takes more than translating English sentences.
Brazilian and European Portuguese voices
Ana speaks with a Brazilian accent and Inês with a European accent from Portugal. The two sound quite different, so you can choose the voice your callers will find most natural. There is no Angolan, Mozambican, Cape Verdean or Timorese voice on this page. Callers with those accents can still talk to the receptionist, and we run test calls with your own callers before go-live.
Você, o senhor and a senhora
In Brazil "você" is the everyday polite form, with "o senhor" or "a senhora" for older or more formal callers. In Portugal "você" can sound abrupt, so Inês uses "o senhor" or "a senhora" or the caller's name, and keeps "tu" for people who invite it. We set the register to suit your customers: formal for a clinic or accountant, warmer for a salon or school.
Different everyday words
Brazilian and European Portuguese use different words for common things. A mobile phone is "celular" in Brazil and "telemóvel" in Portugal, and booking is often "agendar" in Brazil and "marcar" in Portugal. Grammar differs too: "estou fazendo" in Brazil, "estou a fazer" in Portugal. Each agent uses the words of her own variety.
Numbers, names and English words
Brazilians often say "meia" instead of "seis" for the number six when reading out a phone number, and the receptionist reads every number back so the caller can confirm it. Many Portuguese speakers give several names and two surnames, such as Maria Fernanda Souza Lima, and the full name is recorded as given. Callers often use English for suburbs, street names and words like "bond" or "booking", and can switch back and forth between the languages.
An example call in Portuguese
A Brazilian client books a haircut at a salon and Ana reads her number back. Illustrative example, not a recording.

Portuguese AI receptionist: common questions
Which Portuguese accents does the AI receptionist speak?
Two: Ana has a Brazilian accent and Inês a European Portuguese accent from Portugal. There is no Angolan, Mozambican, Cape Verdean or Timorese voice yet. Before go-live we run test calls with your own callers so you can hear how it handles their accent.
Can callers switch between English and Portuguese?
Yes. The receptionist hears Portuguese and English in the same call. Callers can switch back and forth as often as they like and the agent follows, replying in the language they last used.
Does it understand phone numbers spoken in Portuguese?
Yes. A phone number spoken in Portuguese was transcribed correctly in our tests, and Brazilian callers often say "meia" for six, so the receptionist reads numbers back to the caller before saving them, so any mistake gets fixed on the call.
Should we use Ana or Inês?
Choose the voice that matches most of your callers: Ana for Brazilian customers, Inês for customers from Portugal. Callers from either country can talk to both, and we test with your own callers before go-live. We also set the words and the form of address to match, such as "você" for Brazilian callers and "o senhor" or "a senhora" for callers from Portugal.
Can I try a Portuguese demo now?
Yes. Talk to the Portuguese agents on this page, in your browser. Calls run for up to four minutes.
Can we keep our 1300 or 1800 number?
Yes. You keep your number and forward calls to the AI receptionist, all the time or only when you are busy, do not answer or are closed. A mobile number can forward the same way. You do not need a new number.
Can it transfer calls to our staff and send a summary?
Yes. It can put a caller through to a staff member's mobile when they need a person, and it sends a summary of every call to your team, with the transcript in your portal.
Can it give medical, legal or financial advice in Portuguese?
No. In regulated industries the agent handles admin only: bookings, opening hours, directions and messages. Anything that needs advice goes to your qualified staff.
Does a Portuguese receptionist cost more than English?
No. Portuguese calls are charged at the same per-minute rate as English, from 95c a minute down to 77c in New Zealand and 71c in Australia. Credit never expires and every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Where is call data stored?
Transcripts, call records, contact details and billing are stored in Sydney. The live audio, recording files, speech processing and the language model run offshore. We meet cross-border accountability requirements through documented arrangements with our voice infrastructure partner.
