Where Italian-language phone answering helps
For businesses that look after Italian-speaking customers, families and travellers, an answer in Italian makes the call easier for everyone.

Restaurants, delis and cafés
Table bookings, catering orders and function enquiries in Italian or English, with dietary notes and a callback number written down before your team picks up the job.

Aged care and home care
Residents' families and older callers can book a visit, ask about opening hours or leave a message for a staff member in Italian, and your team gets a summary in English.

Tourism and accommodation
Travellers and working holiday makers can book a tour or a room, change dates or ask for directions in Italian, often from the road.

Builders and trades
Take quote requests and job bookings in Italian, with the address, the job and a good time to call written down so your team can call back ready.
How we set up your Italian AI receptionist
Three steps. We do the heavy lifting.
Tell us about your callers
Which languages they speak, what they call about, and what a good call ends with: a booking, a message or a transfer.
We build and test it in Italian
Your greeting, hours, services and booking rules in English and Italian, tested on calls with your own names and places.
Go live on your number
Forward your existing number. Every call comes with a transcript and summary, and we keep improving it.
What makes Italian-language calls different?
Speaking Italian well on the phone takes more than translating English sentences.
Standard Italian, not dialect
Giulia speaks Standard Italian. There are no regional or dialect voices, such as Sicilian, Calabrian, Neapolitan or Venetian. If many of your callers speak a dialect, we test with them before go-live.
Lei and tu
Italian callers expect the polite "Lei" from a business they do not know, and older callers especially. The receptionist uses "Lei" by default. A casual café or surf school can choose the friendly "tu", and we review the tone with you before go-live.
The leading zero
Italian speakers group phone numbers in pairs or threes, such as "zero ventuno" for 021. In our tests the listening model dropped a leading zero, so Giulia reads every number back digit by digit, starting with the zero, and asks the caller to confirm before saving it.
Spelling names the Italian way
Italians spell with city names, such as "A come Ancona, B come Bologna", and the letters J, K, W, X and Y are foreign letters with their own names, such as "i lunga" and "doppia vu". The receptionist follows spelling given this way and confirms the name before passing it to your team.
An example call in Italian
A customer books a restaurant table and the agent reads the phone number back with its leading zero. Illustrative example, not a recording.

Grazie. Ripeto il numero: zero, due, uno, quattro, cinque, sei, sette, otto, nove. È corretto?
Thank you. Let me repeat the number: 0 2 1 4 5 6 7 8 9. Is that correct?
Caller
Sì, esatto. Ah, una di noi è celiaca.
Yes, exactly. Oh, one of us has coeliac disease.
Giulia

Italian AI receptionist: common questions
Which Italian accents does the AI receptionist speak?
One: Giulia has a Standard Italian female voice. There are no regional or dialect voices. Callers with regional accents can talk to Giulia, and before go-live we run test calls with your own callers so you can hear how it handles their accent.
Can callers switch between English and Italian?
Yes. The receptionist hears Italian and English in the same call. Callers can switch back and forth as often as they like and the agent follows, replying in the language they last used.
Does it understand phone numbers spoken in Italian?
Mostly, yes. In our tests a leading zero was dropped, so Giulia reads every number back to the caller, including the leading zero, and asks them to confirm before saving it. Any mistake gets fixed on the call.
Does it understand Italian dialects?
It is built for Standard Italian. Regional accents and dialects such as Sicilian or Calabrian have not been tested yet. If many of your callers use a dialect, we test with them before go-live.
Can I try an Italian demo now?
Yes. Talk to the Italian agent on this page, in your browser. Calls run for up to four minutes.
Can we keep our 1300 or 1800 number?
Yes. You keep your number and forward calls to the AI receptionist, all the time or only when you are busy, do not answer or are closed. A mobile number can forward the same way. You do not need a new number.
Can it transfer calls to our staff and send a summary?
Yes. It can put a caller through to a staff member's mobile when they need a person, and it sends a summary of every call to your team, with the transcript in your portal.
Can it give medical, legal or financial advice in Italian?
No. In regulated industries the agent handles admin only: bookings, opening hours, directions and messages. Anything that needs advice goes to your qualified staff.
Does an Italian receptionist cost more than English?
No. Italian calls are charged at the same per-minute rate as English, from 95c a minute down to 77c in New Zealand and 71c in Australia. Credit never expires and every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Where is call data stored?
Transcripts, call records, contact details and billing are stored in Sydney. The live audio, recording files, speech processing and the language model run offshore. We meet cross-border accountability requirements through documented arrangements with our voice infrastructure partner.
