The short answer
Train your team on the AI tool you already pay for. If your business runs on Microsoft 365, start with Copilot. If your team writes, analyses and builds a lot, choose Claude. If staff already use ChatGPT, keep it and use it properly. All three business plans keep your data out of model training by default.

So which AI tool should our team learn first?
The one you already pay for. Training is what turns a licence into results, and switching tools rarely fixes a team that was never shown how to use the first one.
If you have nothing yet: a Microsoft 365 business should start with Copilot Chat, which is already included, then license the paid Copilot for the people who live in email and meetings. A team that writes, analyses and builds a lot should look hard at Claude. ChatGPT is the safe all rounder most staff already know.
Can a business use more than one?
Yes, and many of the businesses we train do. A common pattern is Copilot for everyone inside Microsoft 365 and Claude or ChatGPT for the smaller group doing heavy writing, analysis or building.
What matters is a clear rule on which tool is approved for which data, so nobody pastes client information into a personal account. We set that rule with the team in every session.
Is a personal plan good enough for a business?
For trying things, yes. For company data, no. Personal plans do not give you admin control, shared workspaces or the business data protections listed above.
The exception is Copilot Chat, which comes with eligible Microsoft 365 business plans and carries Microsoft's enterprise data protection. For many NZ businesses it is the right place to start.

Frequently asked questions
Is ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot better for business?
None is better for every business. Copilot fits Microsoft 365 businesses because it works inside Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel. Claude is strongest for long documents, writing and building tools without code. ChatGPT is the most familiar all rounder. Train on the one your team already has.
How much do ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot cost for a business in NZ?
At list prices checked on 20 October 2026: ChatGPT Business is US$20 per user per month billed yearly, Claude Team is US$20 per standard seat per month billed yearly, and the Microsoft 365 Copilot Business add-on is NZ$34.00 per user per month paid yearly, excluding GST. Copilot Chat is included with eligible Microsoft 365 plans. Check the vendor pages before you buy, prices change.
Which one is safest with company data?
All three business plans state that your business data is not used to train their models by default. The bigger risk is staff using personal accounts. Pick one approved business tool, set clear rules on what data goes in, and train the team on them.
Do you train on all three?
Yes. Waboom AI runs hands-on team training in ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot, plus Gemini, onsite across New Zealand and Australia or online, from $1,995 + GST for up to 10 people. We are independent and not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic or Microsoft.
Should we wait for the tools to settle down before training?
No. The tools change every month, but the skills that matter do not: briefing AI well, giving it your context, checking its work and knowing what data is safe. Teams that learn those now adapt to each new feature in minutes.
