What is a Greek AI receptionist?
A Greek AI receptionist answers your business phone in Greek or English, so callers can book, ask a question or leave a message in the language they are most comfortable with.
Waboom AI offers Eleni, a Northern Greek voice with a Thessaloniki accent, with call handling set up around your business. Built for businesses across New Zealand and Australia.

Where Greek-language phone answering helps
When a Greek-speaking caller hears a polite answer in Greek, booking a visit, asking a question or leaving a message is simpler for them and for your team.

Aged care and home care
Residents' families and older callers can book a visit or a tour, ask about opening hours or leave a message for a staff member in Greek. Eleni's warm, slightly slower voice suits older callers, and your team gets a summary in English.

Medical and allied health clinics
Book, move and cancel appointments in Greek, and take repeat requests or messages for the practice team. The receptionist handles admin only and passes anything clinical to your staff.

Restaurants and cafés
Table bookings, function enquiries and opening hours in Greek or English, while your floor staff look after the guests in front of them.

Accountants and tax agents
Clients can book a meeting, check which documents to bring or leave a message for their accountant in Greek. Questions that need advice go straight to your team.

Community clubs and organisations
Answer questions about events, services and opening times in Greek, take membership enquiries and pass messages to the right volunteer or staff member.
How we set up your Greek AI receptionist
Three steps. We do the heavy lifting.
Tell us about your callers
Which languages they speak, what they call about, and what a good call ends with: a booking, a message or a transfer.
We build and test it in Greek
Your greeting, hours, services and booking rules in English and Greek, tested on calls with your own names and places.
Go live on your number
Forward your existing number. Every call comes with a transcript and summary, and we keep improving it.
What makes Greek-language calls different?
Speaking Greek well on the phone takes more than translating English sentences.
One Northern Greek voice
Eleni speaks with a Northern Greek accent from Thessaloniki. It is the only Greek voice available, so there is no Athenian or Cypriot voice. Callers with other accents, including Athenian and Cypriot, can talk to Eleni, and we test with your own callers before go-live.
The polite plural with older callers
Greek uses the plural "εσείς" as the polite form, and older callers expect it from a business. The receptionist uses it by default and addresses callers as κύριε or κυρία with their surname, in the correct vocative form, such as "κύριε Παπαδόπουλε".
Names that change with gender and grammar
Greek surnames change with gender, such as Παπαδόπουλος and Παπαδοπούλου, and many people use an English first name in Australia and New Zealand. The receptionist speaks Greek in Greek script, never Greeklish, and your team gets the summary in English with the name spelled the way it appears on your records.
Τρίτη is Tuesday, and also third
Greek names Tuesday to Thursday after numbers: Τρίτη, Τετάρτη and Πέμπτη also mean third, fourth and fifth. Dates are said day first, then month. The receptionist confirms every booking with the weekday and the date in full, so a visit on Tuesday is never mistaken for the 3rd.
An example call in Greek
A son books a visit to an aged care home with his mother and the agent reads his phone number back. Illustrative example, not a recording.

Greek AI receptionist: common questions
Which Greek accents does the AI receptionist speak?
One: Eleni has a Northern Greek female voice with a Thessaloniki accent. It is the only Greek voice available, so there is no Athenian or Cypriot voice. Callers with other accents can talk to Eleni too, and before go-live we run test calls with your own callers so you can hear how it handles them.
Can callers switch between English and Greek?
Yes. The receptionist switches to Greek when a caller asks for it or starts speaking Greek, and back to English the same way. It is easiest to follow when each sentence stays in one language, so it confirms key details before saving them.
Does it understand phone numbers spoken in Greek?
Yes. A phone number spoken in Greek was transcribed correctly in our tests. The receptionist also reads numbers back to the caller before saving them, so any mistake gets fixed on the call.
Is it suitable for older Greek-speaking callers?
Yes. Eleni has a warm, mature voice that speaks a little slower and uses the polite form. It can take messages for staff and put a caller through to a staff mobile. Before go-live we test it with your own callers and call types.
Can I try a Greek demo now?
Yes. Talk to the Greek agent on this page, in your browser. Calls run for up to four minutes.
Can we keep our 1300 or 1800 number?
Yes. You keep your number and forward calls to the AI receptionist, all the time or only when you are busy, do not answer or are closed. A mobile number can forward the same way. You do not need a new number.
Can it transfer calls to our staff and send a summary?
Yes. It can put a caller through to a staff member's mobile when they need a person, and it sends a summary of every call to your team, with the transcript in your portal.
Can it give medical, legal or financial advice in Greek?
No. In regulated industries the agent handles admin only: bookings, opening hours, directions and messages. Anything that needs advice goes to your qualified staff.
Does a Greek receptionist cost more than English?
No. Greek calls are charged at the same per-minute rate as English, from 95c a minute down to 77c in New Zealand and 71c in Australia. Credit never expires and every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Where is call data stored?
Transcripts, call records, contact details and billing are stored in Sydney. The live audio, recording files, speech processing and the language model run offshore. We meet cross-border accountability requirements through documented arrangements with our voice infrastructure partner.
