Where Dutch-language phone answering helps
For businesses that look after Dutch-speaking travellers, families and customers, an answer in Dutch makes the call easier for everyone.

Tourism and accommodation
Travellers can book a tour, a room or a campervan, change dates or ask for directions in Dutch or English, often while they are on the road.

Aged care and home care
Older callers and their families can book a visit, ask about opening hours or leave a message for a staff member in Dutch, and your team gets a summary in English.

Builders and trades
Take quote requests and job bookings in Dutch, with the address, the job and a good time to call written down so your team can call back ready.

Real estate
Buyers and sellers can book a viewing or an appraisal and leave their details in Dutch, and your agent gets the summary before calling back.
How we set up your Dutch AI receptionist
Three steps. We do the heavy lifting.
Tell us about your callers
Which languages they speak, what they call about, and what a good call ends with: a booking, a message or a transfer.
We build and test it in Dutch
Your greeting, hours, services and booking rules in English and Dutch, tested on calls with your own names and places.
Go live on your number
Forward your existing number. Every call comes with a transcript and summary, and we keep improving it.
What makes Dutch-language calls different?
Speaking Dutch well on the phone takes more than translating English sentences.
Netherlands Dutch, no Flemish voice
Sanne speaks with a Netherlands Dutch accent. There is no Flemish (Belgian) voice. Flemish callers speak the same language and can talk to Sanne, and we test with your own callers before go-live.
u or je
Dutch has a polite "u" and an informal "je". Many Dutch businesses use "je", but older callers often expect "u" from a company they do not know. The receptionist uses "u" by default, and we can change it to "je" if that suits your brand.
Four-and-sixty: numbers said units first
Dutch says the units before the tens, so 64 is "vierenzestig", four-and-sixty. That makes swapped digits easy to miss. In our tests a phone number was misheard, so Sanne reads every number back digit by digit and asks the caller to confirm before saving it.
Van, de and van der in surnames
Many Dutch surnames start with a small word, as in Van den Berg or De Vries. In the Netherlands these names are filed under the main part, so Van den Berg sits under B, while in Belgium and most English systems it sits under V. Your team gets the summary in English with the full surname as the caller gave it, so you can match it to your records.
An example call in Dutch
A traveller books two places on a boat tour and the agent reads the phone number back. Illustrative example, not a recording.

Ja, om half tien, dus negen uur dertig, zijn er nog plaatsen. Op welke naam mag ik het zetten, en op welk nummer kunnen we u bereiken?
Yes, at half past nine, so 9:30, there are still places. What name shall I put it under, and which number can we reach you on?
Caller
Op naam van De Vries. Mijn nummer is nul twee één, vier vijf zes, zeven acht negen nul.

Dank u. Ik herhaal het nummer: nul, twee, één, vier, vijf, zes, zeven, acht, negen, nul. Klopt dat?
Thank you. Let me repeat the number: 0 2 1 4 5 6 7 8 9 0. Is that right?
Caller
Ja, dat klopt.
Yes, that's right.

Dutch AI receptionist: common questions
Which Dutch accents does the AI receptionist speak?
One: Sanne has a Netherlands Dutch female voice. There is no Flemish (Belgian) voice. Flemish callers can talk to Sanne too, and before go-live we run test calls with your own callers so you can hear how it handles them.
Can callers switch between English and Dutch?
Yes. The receptionist hears Dutch and English in the same call. Callers can switch back and forth as often as they like and the agent follows, replying in the language they last used.
Does it understand phone numbers spoken in Dutch?
Mostly, yes. In our tests a phone number spoken in Dutch was misheard, so Sanne reads every number back to the caller digit by digit and asks them to confirm before saving it. Any mistake gets fixed on the call.
Does it handle Dutch times like "half acht"?
In Dutch, "half acht" means 7:30, not 8:30, which is easy for English speakers to get wrong. The receptionist confirms every booking with the weekday, the date and the time in full, so your team and the caller agree on when it is.
Can I try a Dutch demo now?
Yes. Talk to the Dutch agent on this page, in your browser. Calls run for up to four minutes.
Can we keep our 1300 or 1800 number?
Yes. You keep your number and forward calls to the AI receptionist, all the time or only when you are busy, do not answer or are closed. A mobile number can forward the same way. You do not need a new number.
Can it transfer calls to our staff and send a summary?
Yes. It can put a caller through to a staff member's mobile when they need a person, and it sends a summary of every call to your team, with the transcript in your portal.
Can it give medical, legal or financial advice in Dutch?
No. In regulated industries the agent handles admin only: bookings, opening hours, directions and messages. Anything that needs advice goes to your qualified staff.
Does a Dutch receptionist cost more than English?
No. Dutch calls are charged at the same per-minute rate as English, from 95c a minute down to 77c in New Zealand and 71c in Australia. Credit never expires and every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Where is call data stored?
Transcripts, call records, contact details and billing are stored in Sydney. The live audio, recording files, speech processing and the language model run offshore. We meet cross-border accountability requirements through documented arrangements with our voice infrastructure partner.
