ActiveCampaign AI voice agent: how an Australian insurance brokerage works a cold list

We pointed an ActiveCampaign AI voice agent at a cold database for an Australian income protection and health insurance brokerage. It called every dormant quote enquiry, qualified intent, and warm transferred the keen ones to a human adviser. Every outcome, sentiment and tag wrote back into ActiveCampaign. On the first batch the agent connected with 56% of the numbers and warm transferred 17% of conversations to an adviser.

The brokerage sells income protection, life cover and health insurance out of an office in Australia. A tidy ActiveCampaign account.

And roughly 5,800 quote enquiries sitting in it, going quietly cold. If you run ActiveCampaign, this is a case study in pointing an AI voice agent at exactly that kind of list.

People who once asked for a price. Filled in a form. Maybe opened two emails. Then went silent.

Why does a six-month-old quote enquiry still convert?

Because the need did not go away. Someone who asked about income protection has a mortgage, kids, or a new job with no sick leave.

That worry sits there for months. The email nurture just stopped reaching them. Sound familiar?

ActiveCampaign was doing its job on the contacts who open and click. The trouble was the silent majority.

A broker cannot ring 5,800 people. One adviser on the phone all day clears maybe 60 dials. The maths never works, so the list sits there. Months of paid lead spend, parked.

The build

What does the ActiveCampaign AI voice agent integration actually do?

Here is the whole integration. You add your ActiveCampaign API key in the Waboom AI portal, and the two systems are talking. That easy.

From there the brokerage tagged its dormant enquiries "Waboom reactivation" in ActiveCampaign. That tag feeds a segment. We pointed a Waboom AI calling campaign at the segment, so any contact with the tag drops into the queue on its own.

The voice agent rang each one. Australian voice, daytime hours only, the Do Not Call register checked before every dial. It opened straight: it said it was an AI assistant calling about the income protection enquiry, and asked if now was a good time.

And it says so, up front. The agent never pretends to be human. You want that on the record.

If the person was still interested, it qualified them on cover type, rough amount, smoker status, and the best time for an adviser to call.

Then it warm transferred the keen ones to a human adviser, live, while the intent was hot.

Every call wrote back to ActiveCampaign. The outcome, an AI summary, a sentiment read, a lead score, and the tags the call earned all landed on the contact. Hot leads dropped into an ActiveCampaign automation for same-day adviser follow up. The integration did the filing so nobody on your team had to.

Here is the flow. A contact has sat in ActiveCampaign for 90 days or more, written off by everyone. The agent rings it, has the conversation, and warm transfers the ones who are ready.

The ones who are not ready do not get dropped. They go back in the pool, and the agent calls them again in another 90 days. Your database never goes stale.

The playbook

How do you run the same play?

Tag the dormant enquiries in ActiveCampaign. Build a segment on that tag. Connect ActiveCampaign in the Waboom AI portal with your API key, which takes a couple of minutes.
